Simon's Secret Sally: Yellow Sally Dry Fly Tying Tutorial
Переглядів 33621 день тому
Yellow Sallies are often an overlooked summer staple in Western Trout's Diets. What they lack in size they make up for in abundance. Often Yellow Sallies make a more subtle option in pressured waters when people gravitate to throwing Gold Stones, Green Drakes, or other more popular insects/attractor flies. Yellow Sallies are a small stonefly and are the middle child in terms of size with their ...

Good teaching Simon.
Hello, I enjoyed the video. I was wondering what stream you were on specifically, the McKenzie or maybe the upper Middle Fork of the Willamette?
He no tell
This is probably the coolest sally I've seen yet. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked it!
Awesome video! You all put out great content!
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video!
Thanks!
Dude! You look like a young Kelly Gallop! Nice video. Thanks!
You think so?
Great work Simon! See you on the water!
Great video! Cheers!
I love fishing dry droppers in the mountains near me. This was really good instructional content. Well done.
Awesome, thank you!
I spent some time in 1982-83 and 84 in Albany, OR. I fished a lot of the streams in the Area. It's a really great place! I passed through again in 2005, and it's been quite a bit more built up. Oh, what happened to Jay? He used to post a lot of fly-tying videos.
Beautiful tie, and amazing detail on the final result!
With as much foam as I have, I need to be making more flies like this. Thank you for the demonstration.
It just looks like a fly tied with extra pieces. It’s effective?
Trout approved!
So do you fish it like a regular clouser? Or do you swing it?
What a sick pattern man, wow. love how the bead is semi concealed.
Is there an advantage of this bead vs traditional jig hook and bead?
The hook has a wide gap as well as a longer shank. Generally jig hooks are shorter making it difficult to tie a realistic stonefly mimicking their long abdomen. The bead is extremely heavy so it gets down deep and flips any traditional hook and makes it ride inverted like a jig
What state is it
Oregon!
Nice 👍
Fantastic
Awesome. Excellent instruction. Fantastic.
Thanks for helping me put this together in the shop today guys! Hope to be flinging one in the Umpqua tomorrow! Awesome video as usual!
literally a rip off of the crowd surfer stone
Just met this cool dude named Bruce at Trout Fest on the Deschutes this weekend. Went home after the trip and immediately went to the vice and started tying these bad boys. I made a few of my own mods I call flymph 2.0. Added the orange collar and even a chartreuse collar on a couple as he suggested. I used a 90 degree jig hook with intent of trying as a euro rig setup. Also tied some with a fulling mill 4.6mm crimson red tungsten bead. I’m having some fun with this pattern and I’m psyched to try it out. Plan to hit some water this week to see how she rolls. Next mod I have planned I am thinking to name the flymphomaniac with a little Krystal flash along the tail just to add a subtle sparkle/lateral line-esque feature. Photos to come if I can post them here!
Ty crack !
Love this pattern! Gonna be tying this up for fishing back in Kentucky and Tennessee.
Greetings from MT. I'm surprised you wussies are still open.
Fantastic
Just i time for… *check calendar* … June?
The more material you trim off before you melt the wing in the burner, the less wing rim melt you have.
Good video, but please increase your volume...
Nice tie but why do we need to know how to tie winter flies coming into late spring and early summer?
If i was a fish, id fall for that too
Very cool
Bunch of trash tied to a hook. Expensive Expensive trash.
If you wet the thread before you bind down the foam it helps hold it. Charlie craven tip
hello been wondering about that pool where you see underwater that's not real, it just looks incredible if real love to swim in it
A clip from New Zealand!
@@CaddisFlyAnglingShop wow it honestly is the most beautiful pool I've seen I figured prob doctored pic amazing
Was filmed for the shop in New Zealand years ago for a Todd Moen film in Catch Magazine. You can find the full film there there should be two seperate ones.
@@CaddisFlyAnglingShop cool thank you very much
Great design and beautifully tied. Simon, did you design this pattern?
I did! It crushes! Will be doing a gold stone version for summer time
Doesn't look like it 😂😂😂
This is so refreshing to watch. It is explained exceptionally well. The camera work is good.Thank you for sharing.
Really nice!
Well done, Simon.
great tie thanks for sharing tight lines !
😌 *promo sm*
Just wondering what the hook looking device on the hank of tinsel was? Home made or store bought? P.s. You look very comfortable behind the vice
Simon, why have 2 sets of eyes? Why not keep it natural and do 1 set of eyes?
I'm lucky to live less than 5 miles from Caddis Fly Shop and I am a frequent visitor talking to Simon about tying and fishing. He is a great tier and advisor and I will have a dozen of these flies in my box by next week.
Супер
That's so cool!
Like it. See y’all this weekend for a visit!
These guys are great people and a great shop!
